The option, in or out?

According to Gary Andersen it’s in. Even after several misqueues and a turnover on Friday night. I think it is the right call. Diondre Borel needs to practice making “the pitch” that makes the option go. If he can become a master of running the option our offense will be much more dynamic. The option is a play designed to utilize speed, which we happen to have. Our top two running backs, Robert Turbin and Michael Smith, have both shown the ability to out run the fastest of defenders, and Borel hardly has lead in his feet when he decides to keep the ball. My opinion is that we should keep the option open, work on it, and use it. Maybe next year we can implement the triple option utilizing all three of those guys. But for now, one step at a time.
